Search Miami 24 Hour Booking Records

Miami 24 hour booking records are processed through the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department. The Miami Police Department makes arrests within city limits, but all inmates go to the county jail system for booking. MDCR runs a free online inmate search tool that shows current and recently released inmates. You can look up booking data any time of day, and the system covers arrests from every law enforcement agency in Miami-Dade County, not just the city of Miami.

Miami Arrest Records and Jail Inmate Search

The MDCR Inmate Search is the main tool for checking Miami booking records. You type in a first or last name and the system shows matching inmates. Each result includes the person's name, booking date, charges, bond status, and facility location. The tool works on any device and does not require a login.

Miami-Dade County has one of the largest jail systems in Florida. Multiple facilities hold inmates, and the inmate search covers all of them. When someone is arrested by Miami PD at 400 NW 2nd Ave, they get transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center or another MDCR facility for processing. The booking record is created there.

Data updates throughout the day. New bookings show up fairly fast, though there can be a short lag during busy periods. If you need to confirm a very recent arrest, call MDCR at 786-263-7000. Staff can check the system in real time for you.

How Miami Booking Records Work

When Miami PD officers arrest someone, the process follows a set path. The person is transported to a county facility. Officers log the arrest with MDCR staff, who handle the actual booking. Fingerprints are taken. A photo is captured. The person's charges are entered into the system along with personal details like name, date of birth, and physical description.

This data then becomes part of the public record under Florida law. Section 119.07 gives everyone the right to inspect and copy public records. Booking information is not exempt from this rule in most cases. The MDCR makes the data available online, which satisfies the access requirement without you having to visit a facility in person.

Section 119.011 defines public records broadly. Any document or data made in connection with official business counts. Booking sheets, arrest reports, charge sheets, and inmate intake forms all fall under this.

Arrested persons in Miami have the right to communicate after booking. Section 901.243 says they can make phone calls within a reasonable time. This applies at every MDCR facility.

Miami Jail Roster and Public Access

The MDCR inmate search doubles as the jail roster for all of Miami-Dade County. You can browse current inmates or search for a specific name. The tool shows both people who are still in custody and those who were recently released. This makes it useful for checking on recent 24 hour booking activity in the Miami area.

Miami PD handles arrests within city limits, but MDCR processes all bookings at the county level.

For statewide searches that go beyond Miami-Dade County, the FDLE Criminal History portal runs background checks for $24 per search. That fee is set by Section 943.053. For checking recent Miami bookings, the free MDCR tool is the better choice.

Some records may not appear in the online search. Section 119.071 lists exemptions to public records access. Sealed cases, expunged records, and certain juvenile matters are not shown. But for most adult bookings in Miami, the data is public and free to view.

Miami-Dade County Processes All Miami Bookings

Miami sits in Miami-Dade County, and the county handles all jail operations. The city of Miami does not run its own jail. When Miami PD makes an arrest, the person goes to a county facility for booking. This is the standard setup for most cities in Florida. The county runs the jail while city police focus on patrol and investigation.

Miami-Dade is the most populous county in the state. The jail system processes a high volume of bookings every day. Multiple law enforcement agencies bring arrests to MDCR facilities, including Miami PD, Miami Beach PD, Hialeah PD, and the county's own police department. All of these show up in the same inmate search tool. One search covers everything.

Keep in mind that booking records show arrests, not convictions. A person listed in the system has been charged but may not have been found guilty. The court process runs separately from the jail. Charges can be dropped, reduced, or dismissed at any point. The booking record remains, but it does not tell you the final outcome of a case.
